Collectors and decorators dream — this is a beautiful early antique basket quilt, made in the late 19th century (c.1885–1900) and full of warmth and character. Rich claret and burgundy red antique cottons are set against a soft white ground, creating a timeless look.
The quilt measures approximately 77” x 82” and is hand pieced and hand quilted, with lovely heart quilting worked throughout. The quilting adds texture and personality and really comes alive when seen in person.
This is a lightweight, fully usable quilt with good structure and a wonderful drape. There is some gentle fading consistent with age, but no holes or tears noted, and the quilt remains in amazing condition for its age.
The backing is a period-appropriate red floral cotton, consistent with the quilt’s age and construction.
A genuine piece of textile history, this quilt is perfect for adding a soft, charming layer to a bed, sofa, or wall and makes a beautiful addition to any collection of antique linens and textiles.
